Former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Endorsed by Largest Pro-Peace, Pro-Israel & Pro-Democracy Organization in the US
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Today, former US Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn is being endorsed by J Street, the largest pro-peace, pro-Israel and pro-democracy organization in the United States, in his bid for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District. J Street rallies pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy Americans to promote US policies that embody their deeply held Jewish and democratic values, help secure the State of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people, and protect the rights and freedoms of Israelis and Palestinians alike.
“At a time when the threats to our core values and safety have never been greater, all of us in the pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy community know how important it is to elect proud Democrats like Harry Dunn to serve in Congress. We think our voice is particularly important as we try to push back against the right-wing dark money flooding in this race under a supposedly “pro-Israel” banner,” said J Street’s president, Jeremy Ben-Ami. “We are thrilled to endorse Harry. He defended Democracy with his bare hands from insurrectionists on January 6 and he is the right person to represent Maryland’s 3rd Congressional district. We know he’ll continue to defend democracy and democracies both at home and abroad.”
In 2022, J Street raised more than $9,000,000 to elect pro-Israel, pro-democracy, and pro-peace Democrats across the country and and defeat MAGA candidates up and down the ballot. This year, they plan to spend and raise over 10 million dollars to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies once again.

As money from anti-democracy Republican donors floods my race, it’s more important than ever for pro-democracy Democrats to stand together to tell these extremists they can’t buy this Congressional seat,” said Harry Dunn. “When I get to Congress, I’ll be honored to fight with J Street to support the shared democratic values at the heart of the US-Israel relationship, build on the Biden administration’s leadership toward peace, and secure a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
Dunn has garnered wide support from across Maryland and the country, with more than 5,000 individual donors just in Maryland averaging under $26.50 per donation. He has received the endorsement of End Citizens United and Vote Vets PAC. Demonstrating his growing support, Dunn has also been endorsed by former Maryland Democratic Party Chair, Susie Turnbull and Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando, as well as numerous members of Congress, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Jim Clyburn (SC-06), Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14), Congressman Adam Schiff (CA-30), Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05), Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), and Congressman Bennie Thompson (MS-02).
Earlier this month, Dunn announced the results of a poll that showed him as the best-known, best-liked and the leading candidate in the crowded field to replace retiring Congressman John Sarbanes.
Dunn announced raising more than $3.75 million in the first quarter of 2024 from more than 100,000 donors.
