ELLICOTT CITY, MD — U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn released his fifth television ad in the race for Congress in Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, as he battles nearly $4,000,000 in dark MAGA money from United Democracy Project against his campaign and in support of Senator Sarah Elfreth.
United Democracy Project is funded by Republican mega-donors who have given millions of dollars to the worst MAGA extremists, including Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Lauren Boebert. In 2022, UDP endorsed over 100 candidates and members of Congress who supported the January 6th insurrection and tried to overturn the 2020 election. This group, funded by Republican extremists, is coming after Harry Dunn’s movement to protect American democracy.
“MAGA extremists are so desperate while watching their leader Donald Trump under indictment that they are looking for allies everywhere that they can, including in this open race for Maryland’s Third District,” said Harry Dunn. “I’m the only candidate in this race that MAGA knows for a fact they can’t befriend because I’m the only candidate in this race with a proven track record of standing up to them, even in the toughest of circumstances. While I defended democracy with my bare hands on January 6th, my opponent voted with Republicans 44 times, opposing safeguards against police misconduct, protecting an insurrectionist-supporting Republicans seat, and making it harder to vote by mail.”

Dunn has garnered wide support from across Maryland and the country, with more than 5,000 individual donors just in Maryland averaging under $26.50 per donation. He has received the endorsement of End Citizens United, J Street, and VoteVets PAC. Demonstrating his growing support, Dunn has also been endorsed by former Maryland Democratic Party Chair, Susie Turnbull and Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando, as well as numerous members of Congress, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Jim Clyburn (SC-06), Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10), Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-14), Congressman Adam Schiff (CA-30), Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (MO-05), Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), and Congressman Bennie Thompson (MS-02).
Earlier this month, Dunn announced the results of a poll that showed him as the best-known, best-liked and the leading candidate in the crowded field to replace retiring Congressman John Sarbanes.
