As a former U.S. Capitol Police officer, Harry dedicated most of his life to public service, and he knows what a difficult job it is. That’s why he understands we must fund the police so that they are put in the best position to be successful. But he knows we must acknowledge and solve the systemic problems within the policing system. In Congress, Harry will:
- Champion and support the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which will increase accountability for law enforcement misconduct.
- Introduce legislation to address the root cause of crime – poverty and lack of opportunity – especially in underprivileged communities.
- Invest in community-based training for police officers on the front lines so that they can uphold their oath of service.
- Work with local community partners to improve the criminal justice system by ensuring fair and just outcomes that promote genuine public safety and deterrence.
- Empower law enforcement officials to succeed in their mission to protect and serve us all.
